About the Role

Qventus is seeking an Implementation Engineer to lead the delivery of our Inpatient and Surgical Growth solutions at scale. Our platform helps health systems optimize patient flow, reduce length of stay, improve discharge planning, and drive surgical growth and OR utilization through AI-powered workflows and predictive analytics. In this role, you will serve as the technical expert for our suite of products — communicating requirements to external clients and internal teams, managing hospital-specific data transformations, building custom EHR integrations, executing product configuration and data validation, and supporting clinical workflow rollouts. You will work closely with hospital stakeholders and R&D counterparts to deliver scalable, high-quality data pipelines that drive measurable improvements across inpatient operations and surgical growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate technical product requirements and provide support to external clients and internal development teams, ensuring optimal utilization of Qventus modules; gather and analyze user requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and develop configuration plans with appropriate timelines.
  • Serve as the expert for the Qventus product suite, with deep knowledge of the data structures, relational databases, integrations, reporting, and metric development that underpin each module, including AI/ML-powered inpatient and surgical growth workflows and real-time analytics.
  • Lead technical implementations of Qventus solutions end-to-end, including Inpatient Operations and Surgical Growth: validate clinical data sources, configure relevant capacity and workflow metrics (e.g., bed capacity, discharge planning, OR scheduling and case volume), and manage the full lifecycle from requirements through unit testing and customer sign-off.
  • Perform SQL-level checks on data integrity and system performance; develop, execute, refine, and optimize advanced SQL queries against databases (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) to validate data quality and system behavior.
  • Query relational databases and configure technical systems including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems; develop monitoring mechanisms and automated alerts to proactively identify and prevent production data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Integration teams to identify and resolve data interoperability issues; perform root cause analysis on data pipeline failures, evaluate HL7/FHIR integration configurations, and implement corrections both historically and going forward.
  • Manage and execute data migrations from legacy hospital systems, minimizing disruption to patient care while maintaining data integrity throughout the transition.
  • Direct production support for customer issues post-deployment: actively monitor support channels, own issues from identification through resolution, and coordinate across internal teams to restore normal system function.
  • Develop deployment-related technical content and training materials, including starter content for product modules; deliver advanced technical training to new employees and customer teams, presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify process gaps within product administration and configuration; perform analysis to design optimal workarounds or reconfigurations, and make detailed technical recommendations to resolve platform deficiencies.
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions for hospital system integrations; identify improvements to Qventus solutions in collaboration with R&D partners and contribute to scalable, long-term platform evolution.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience building, debugging, and enhancing production healthcare data transformation pipelines; highly proficient in SQL and at least one modern data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, BigQuery).
  • 3+ years of professional experience with modern programming languages such as Java, C/C++, or Python, with a dedication to high code quality.
  • Experience translating hospital requirements into technical designs for hospital operations (inpatient and/or surgical) and executing across multiple technologies and platforms in fast-paced environments (AWS preferred).
  • Understanding of healthcare data structures related to hospital operations, such as bed management, patient flow, OR scheduling, or surgical case volume; familiarity with relational database technologies including Redshift and RDS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate technical issues clearly to clinical leadership, hospital IT teams, and non-technical stakeholders alike.

It’s a Plus if You Have…

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare data standards; familiarity with integration middleware such as Mirth or Rhapsody.
  • EHR system integration experience (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and aptitude for interpreting complex clinical datasets, including length of stay, discharge barriers, bed utilization, OR block scheduling, or surgical case data.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, Terraform, Looker, and/or Ansible; background building hospital performance metrics and real-time clinical monitoring systems.
