PJI Law, a boutique, busy, and fast-growing law firm in the Washington, DC area, has a new full-time opportunity for a Paralegal / Drafter. The opportunity is as challenging as it is rewarding, and is ideal for an achiever with a strong work ethic who is looking for a position in which to grow. Training will be provided, and although experience in the legal field is preferred, it is not required.
Our firm exists to help those who wish to plan for the legal protection and security of their families, and this position is crucial in allowing us to effectively help them. Your primary duties in this position would include:
- Drafting estate planning documents for the firm’s clients using drafting software.
- Ensuring documents are perfectly formatted and finalized for review and/or printing.
- Assisting with various other aspects of the preparation and completion of estate plans, as needed.
- Liaising with the firm’s estate planning team regarding various issues to ensure the firm’s continued quality service and efficiency.
- Time-permitting, secondary duties in this position would involve assisting the legal team with various case-related support.
This position requires a person who is obsessed with attention to detail, who can eyeball a paragraph and catch an accidental extra space between two words, and who takes great pride in submitting a perfectly proofread document and a high-quality product. If you thought it was strange that anyone would catch or even care about one little extra space in a document, then this position is not for you.
Additional qualifications include:
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to closely follow established policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, including impeccable spelling and grammar.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn new software and technology.
- Ability to go the entire workday without checking Facebook/Instagram/etc.
- Experience in the legal field (particularly in estate planning and/or document drafting) is preferred, but not required.

You would have approximately 40 working hours per week, Monday through Friday, from approximately 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Eastern Time, meaning 3:00 pm/4:00 pm until 12:00 am/1:00 am South African Standard Time, depending on the time of year.
Technology requirements
You must, at minimum, have the following or must be willing and able to obtain it within two weeks of you’re start date:
- Computer with:
- Windows 11 or newer
- 16 GB RAM minimum
- 500 GB SSD or larger
- Intel Core i5 10th Generation processor (or equivalent) minimum
- External mouse
- Webcam
- Quality headset with microphone
- UPS or inverter for uninterrupted power
- Fiber (or equivalent) internet connection with:
- Minimum 100 Mbps
- Uncapped service
- Ethernet connection (Wi-Fi is not acceptable)
Compensation for this position is $1,200 per month, paid in U.S. dollars.
