As a Field Application Engineer at Lumentum Operations LLC, you will provide expert technical support to customers, guiding them through product selection, design-in, and troubleshooting to ensure successful integration and optimal performance of Lumentum's optical components and modules. Ability to influence architecture and design selection. Adept at technical presentation and presenting to senior technical customers (VP Eng, CTO, etc)

Responsibilities:**

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support.
  * Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer needs and present appropriate Lumentum solutions.
  * Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions for customers.
  * Assist customers with product selection, system architecture design, and integration challenges.
  * Troubleshoot technical issues, diagnose root causes, and provide timely solutions to customers.
  * Gather customer feedback and requirements, communicating them effectively to internal engineering and product management teams.
  * Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer technical personnel.
  * Generate technical reports, application notes, and other documentation to support customer engagements.
  * Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor products, and Lumentum's product roadmap.
  * Travel to customer sites as required to provide on-site technical support and build relationships.
  
  Qualifications:**
  
  * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
  * 3-5 years of experience in a field application engineering, applications engineering, design engineering, or architecture role within the optical communications industry.
  * Strong understanding of optical components and modules, including lasers, transceivers, ROADMs, and amplifiers.
  * Proficiency in optical communication systems, network architectures, and relevant industry standards (e.g., OIF, ITU-T).
  * Experience with optical test and measurement equipment (e.g., optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, BER testers).
  * Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  * Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Comfort presenting to senior level technical resources (VP Eng, CTO, etc)
  * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  * Customer-focused mindset with a proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  * Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
